Old Article Newly Found

Posted by Joel Heck on Tuesday, January 20, 2015
Thanks to Christopher Marsh of New Zealand, I have entered into December 1946 of "Chronologically Lewis" the publication of the article by C. S. Lewis, "A Christmas Sermon for Pagans," which appeared in The Strand magazine that month. This article does not appear in any collection of essays by Lewis that Walter Hooper has edited. The article citation (not the article itself) is now included in the file "The Complete Works of CS Lewis," posted on this website. I have been invited to work with Christopher Marsh to write an article to accompany the reprinting of this article in VII. I hope to be able to do this.

There are a few other additions to this chronology, which is only nine days later and 220 words more than the previous version of this chronology. I just couldn't wait to announce Chris Marsh's discovery! Don't ask me what other changes, because I don't keep careful tabs on the changes, except that I know that I have added a few authors' names to some book titles and a little about Andrew Lang's book, Myth, Ritual and Religion, which C. S. Lewis was reading in July 1929.

This is the latest Lewis chronology:

The file that appears below lists all works of C. S. Lewis in chronological order (now 472 in number, one more than the previous version because of the addition of the brief "Undergraduate Criticism" from 1960) in the location where they were first published or delivered (if spoken) as far as I am able to determine. Corrections are welcome. This version, slightly revised and added on March 18, 2017, includes works listed in the bibliography of Adam Barkman's C. S. Lewis & Philosophy as a Way of Life. It also includes the recently discovered (by Christopher Marsh) "A Christmas Sermon for Pagans."
