Vice President Lewis

This new version of "Chronologically Lewis" is a major upgrade in five ways. First, it has all of the dates of Lewis' service on the Council (Board of Trustees) at Westcott House, Cambridge. Second, it contains meetings that Lewis attended in 1941 during the year of his Vice Presidency of Magdalen College. Board of Trustees, Westcott House, Cambridge

This version of "Chronologically Lewis" contains the general dates of Lewis' service on the Board of Trustees of Westcott House, Cambridge. His term started in 1955 and ended in December 1959. This bit of detail had been unknown until I visited Westcott House a couple of weeks ago and inquired about the room in which Lewis gave the talk, "Modern Theology and Biblical Criticism." Email correspondence with a member of the staff has resulted in this new information.

Contents of Letters, Board of Trustees

With this update, I have decided to move to an improved format wherein I briefly mention the key topics in the various letters Lewis wrote on any given date. This is a huge project, one that will probably take years to complete, but it should result in a more useful database of material. Since PDF files are searchable, it may also help researchers a bit more.

The file that appears below lists all works of C. S. Lewis in chronological order (now 528 in number) in the location where they were first published or delivered (if spoken) as far as I am able to determine. Corrections are welcome. This version, slightly revised and added on May 13, 2020, includes a corrected date for "Transposition" on June 9, 1946.

This file describes what is happening in Oxford, Cambridge, the UK, and Europe at the time that Lewis writes his various poems, essays, and books, dividing the life and writings of Lewis by academic topic, i.e. English, Philosophy, History, etc.
