Bits and Pieces

Posted by Joel Heck on Friday, October 28, 2022
This post has quite a number of new items scattered in many places, which is the nature of improvements to this document these days. I added a few explanations of terminology from Jack, corrected the initials to J. E. Campbell (they had been J. A.), corrected the spelling of Wiblin to Wibelin (who was nicknamed Smudge), added George Sayer's insight that she fell in love with Jack, and a few more footnotes. I also added some information on cousin Joseph Teggart Lewis. I have also added references to some book reviews of Jack's books and that Sayer story about the birth of the first pog. In addition, thanks to the handwriting analysis of Charlie Starr, I have changed the probable date of De Futilitate from 1942 to 1944.

The file that appears below lists all works of C. S. Lewis in chronological order (now 528 in number) in the location where they were first published or delivered (if spoken) as far as I am able to determine. Corrections are welcome. This version, slightly revised and added on May 13, 2020, includes a corrected date for "Transposition" on June 9, 1946.

This file describes what is happening in Oxford, Cambridge, the UK, and Europe at the time that Lewis writes his various poems, essays, and books, dividing the life and writings of Lewis by academic topic, i.e. English, Philosophy, History, etc.
