Mark Twain etc.

Posted by Joel Heck on Sunday, April 29, 2018
This edition has 990 more words than the previous edition. The number of pages is irrelevant because I changed the margins. I have added a note about a contribution by Lewis on George Bernard Shaw for the Mark Twain Journal and a comment from Lewis (where I very much regret not having footnoted where I got some information about Lewis' correspondence with Cyril Clemens--if you can supply that information, please send it to me) about H. G. Wells' book, The First Men in the Moon. I have added a few additional notes from reading the words that Lewis wrote in those places where All My Road Before Me (Jack's diary) has ellipses. An occasional historical note about a person's career, birth and death dates, etc., rounds out the rest of the changes, although there could be some other changes that I don't recall. Suffice it to say that there are no momentous changes.

The file that appears below lists all works of C. S. Lewis in chronological order (now 528 in number) in the location where they were first published or delivered (if spoken) as far as I am able to determine. Corrections are welcome. This version, slightly revised and added on May 13, 2020, includes a corrected date for "Transposition" on June 9, 1946.

This file describes what is happening in Oxford, Cambridge, the UK, and Europe at the time that Lewis writes his various poems, essays, and books, dividing the life and writings of Lewis by academic topic, i.e. English, Philosophy, History, etc.
