This version of Chronological Lewis is only about 400 words and one page longer, containing a couple of inconsequential improvements and one major improvement. That major improvement came as the result of inquiries from Diana Glyer and one of her students, Sarah. It has to do with when R. E. Havard became Lewis' physician, when Lewis was ill in May 1934, i.e., what part of the month, and how that relates to what Warren has written in his diary, the published portion. Consequently, I moved the date of Havard's visit to The Kilns from about May 2 to about May 7 and put in a lengthy footnote about resource material in Warren Lewis' diary, Havard's essay in James Como's book C. S. Lewis at the Breakfast Table, and William Griffin's Clive Staples Lewis. While this is not a momentous change, it does show the potential of this chronology, especially as we learn more about the Lewis brothers and push back (kindly and gentle) on what has been written. A lot of minor changes could well lead to a few significant changes in our understanding of the life and writings of C. S. Lewis. For history buffs, that's exciting. For everyone else, well, maybe not.

Lewis in chronological order (now 528 in number) in the location where they were first published or delivered (if spoken) as far as I am able to determine. Corrections are welcome. This version, slightly revised and added on May 13, 2020, includes a corrected date for "Transposition" on June 9, 1946.

This file describes what is happening in Oxford, Cambridge, the UK, and Europe at the time that Lewis writes his various poems, essays, and books, dividing the life and writings of Lewis by academic topic, i.e. English, Philosophy, History, etc.
